DragonPilot – Installation Guide

Installation is super easy:

1. Make sure your device has been reset and other software has been uninstalled: How to uninstall software from Comma 3X/3/2

2. Once your device is on the “Choose Software to Install” screen, you will click on “Custome Software (Advanced)”, Type in this install URL for the latest DragonPilot (Stable): https://smiskol.com/fork/dragonpilot/beta3

To use DragonPilot Connect (web based app) use this website and setup via GitHub: https://dragonpilot.org/

Understanding other DragonPilot branches

Most people won’t need to try another branch, but if you need to try an alternate branch for some reason, this is the guide.

  1. Head on over to the GitHub: https://github.com/dragonpilot-community/dragonpilot

You will be loaded into the default/latest branch

2. Select the branch that you want (In this example, we are choosing branch: r2

Note: Older branches may brick newer devices. Make sure you know what you are doing

FAQs

Is DragonPilot safe?

DragonPilot is technically not liked by Comma, they don’t allow DragonPilot devices to connect to Comma Connect because it allows features that comma may not want its users to use. This is a little bit of a gray area. However, people across the world have been using DragonPilot and its developers are very good. They even created the steering wheel tuning that is now available in SunnyPilot, FrogPilot and others.

What is Always On Torque Lateral?

Always On Torque Lateral, means that once you engage DragonPilot, and it’s controlling the gas/brakes & steering. If you hit the brakes, DragonPilot will still remain in control of the steering but leave the gas/braking up to you. So that means you can then start to accelerate and stop all you want while not touching the wheel. You can enable the gas/brake control again by hitting the resume or set button. It’s a little tricky to get used to, but it’s a must have for a lot of people. It kind of brings back the lane keep assist alert that openpilot removes.
